# Horizon Healthcare 海晴健康醫務中心 ## About Horizon Healthcare is a one-stop general medical centre located at Room 1005, 26 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon (next to the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel; close to MTR Tsim Sha Tsui station exits C1/H and Tsim Sha Tsui East station exits L1/K). Services span general and family medicine, endoscopy, day-surgery minor procedures, imaging arrangement, and surgical specialist consultation with surgery risk assessment and inpatient surgery arrangement. The centre is a participating provider in the Hong Kong Government's Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme (colonscreen.gov.hk) and was awarded HKCT 企業大獎 2025 — 年度最傑出醫療服務中心 by the Hong Kong Commercial Times. ## Lead surgeon Dr. Wong Kiu Fung, Kelvin (王喬峯醫生) is a Specialist in Surgery. He holds an MSc in Gastroenterology and a Diploma in Medicine from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, is a Member and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCSEd, FRCSEd), a Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Surgeons (FCSHK) and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Surgery). Consultations in Cantonese, English and Mandarin. ## Endoscopy (gastroscopy + colonoscopy) Gastroscopy examines the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum; colonoscopy examines the colon and rectum. Both are important for early identification of polyps, ulcers and early cancer. Colonoscopy from age 50 is broadly recommended; earlier if there is a family history of colorectal cancer. Gastroscopy allows biopsy for H. pylori testing (urease test or histology). ## Inguinal hernia (小腸氣) Inguinal hernia is the most common hernia in Hong Kong: lifetime risk about 27% in men versus about 3% in women. It does not self-resolve; a hernia that becomes irreducible (cannot be pushed back) may indicate incarceration and requires urgent surgical assessment. Modern management is usually minimally-invasive. ## Appendicitis (闌尾炎) Hong Kong sees roughly 2,000 new appendicitis cases each year. Typical pain starts around the umbilicus and migrates to the right lower quadrant, often with tenderness, fever and nausea. Diagnosis combines clinical assessment, blood tests and imaging. Laparoscopic appendicectomy is the mainstream treatment; delayed treatment can lead to perforation and peritonitis. ## Gallstones & gallbladder polyps Gallstones and gallbladder polyps are often 'silent' — many patients are diagnosed incidentally on imaging. Long-term bile stasis and concentration raise the risk of biliary sludge and stones, which can lead to biliary colic, acute cholecystitis or bile-duct obstruction. Assessment includes ultrasound and, where indicated, MRCP; treatment options range from surveillance to laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ## Thyroid tumour / thyroid cancer Thyroid tumours may be benign (thyroid nodules — often asymptomatic) or malignant (thyroid cancer — most commonly papillary or follicular). Assessment centres on ultrasound and fine-needle aspiration cytology, with imaging or blood tests where indicated. Benign lesions are often observed; malignant lesions are managed surgically and, in selected cases, with radioactive iodine or adjuvant therapy. ## Colorectal cancer screening (Government programme) Horizon Healthcare is a participating provider in the Hong Kong Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme. Eligible residents can access subsidised pre-consultation and colonoscopy at the centre. Please check current eligibility on colonscreen.gov.hk. ## Other conditions covered H. pylori (幽門螺旋菌); intestinal metaplasia (腸化生); gastrointestinal stromal tumour (基質瘤); haemorrhoids (痔瘡); abdominal pain (腹痛). ## Contact Room 1005, 26 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
